Damascus Blades

Thank you for your interest in OX Forge Knives.   Having hand-crafted knives since 1977, I hope to be able to offer you a piece of cutlery that will meet your exact needs.  Every blade leaving my shop comes with a guarantee of complete customer satisfaction.  As a full time bladesmith this is important to me.

Since marketing my first knives in 1978, I have come to favor forging as my method of fabrication.  My steel of choice is 52100, a high carbon bearing alloy with 1 1/2% chromium and 1% carbon.  When properly forged and heat treated, 52100 yields a blade with superb edge holding qualities, yet it can be re-sharpened quite easily.

Presented below are just a few examples of the custom work I can offer.  In addition to blades forged in 52100, I have forged my own pattern welded Damascus steel since 1984.  This ancient material offers its own unique properties and every blade is truly one of a kind.

I am at your service, and forging ahead,

Charles F Ochs III
